"Anathema" is a curse that we bind ourselves by and needs to be broken off of each one of us.
There are several ways in which this curse has us under bondage. Things we speak out of our mouths can cause this type of curse to come upon us. Things that we have in our homes that are accursed objects bring this curse upon us. If we add or take away from the Word of God this curse is upon us.
1. Things we speak out of our mouths:
In Acts 23:12-15 the Jews bound themselves by an oath and curse to kill Paul. They swore that they would not eat until they had killed Paul.
"Now when daylight came, the Jews formed a plot and bound themselves by an oath and under a curse neither to eat nor drink till they had done away with Paul. 13) There were more than forty [men of them], who formed this conspiracy [swearing together this oath and curse]. 14) And they went to the chief priests and elders, saying, We have strictly bound ourselves by an oath and under a curse not to taste any food until we have slain Paul. 15) So now you, along with the council (Sanhedrin), give notice to the commandant to bring {Paul} down to you, as if you were going to investigate his case more accurately. But we [ourselves] are ready to slay him before he comes near."
Jesus said in Matthew 5:34 - 37 But I tell you, Do not bind yourselves by an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is the throne of God; or by the earth, for it is the footstool of His feet; or by Jerusalem, for it is the City of the Great King. And do not swear by your head, for you are not able to make a single hair white or black. Let your yes be simply yes, and your no be simply no; anything more than that comes from the evil one.

ANATHEMA (Devoted). The devoted thing, if inanimate, fell to the priests, Num. 18:28; if animate, it was to be slain, Lev. 28:28,29. In the New Testament it meant a curse, Romans 9:3; 1 Cor. 12:3; 16:22. In the latter instance Maranatha is added, the meaning being "Let him be accursed."

ANATHEMA, which literally means a thing suspended, is the equivalent of the Hebrew word signifying a thing or person devoted. Any object so devoted to Jehovah was irredeemable. If an inanimate object, it was to be given to the priests; if a living creature or even a man, it was to be slain. The word anathema frequently occurs in Paul's writings, and is generally translated accursed. An examination of the passages in which it occurs shows that it had acquired a more general sense as expressive either of strong feeling, or of dislike and condemnation.
Numbers 18:14 [Everything that has been vowed to the Lord] every devoted thing in Israel shall be yours. (Priests)
Leviticus 27:28,29 But nothing that a man shall devote to the Lord of all that he has, whether of man or beast or of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed; every devoted thing is most holy to the Lord. No one doomed to death [under the claim of divine justice], who is to be completely destroyed from among men, shall be ransomed [from suffering the death penalty]; he shall surely be put to death.
2. If we add or take away from the Word of God:
Deuteronomy 4:2 You shall not add to the word which I command you, neither shall you diminish it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.
12:32 Whatever I command you, be watchful to do it; you shall not add to it or diminish it.
Romans 9:3 For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off and banished from Christ for the sake of my brethren and instead of them, my natural kinsmen and my fellow countrymen. [Exod.32:32]
1 Corinthians 12:3 Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking under the power and influence of the [Holy] Spirit of God can [ever] say, Jesus be cursed! And no one can [really] say, Jesus is [my] Lord, except by and under the power and influence of the Holy Spirit.
16:22 If anyone does not love the Lord [does not have a friendly affection for Him and is not kindly disposed toward Him], he shall be accursed! Our Lord will come! (Maranatha!)
Galatians 1:9 As we said before, so I now say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel different from or contrary to that which you received [from us], let him be accursed (anathema, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment)!
3. Things we have in our home:

ANATHEMA (From Greek "to place [or set up] something") The term originally referred to the votive offering before a deity. Deut.7:26 "accursed"; Josh. 7:12, "a thing for destruction", i.e. that which is "consecrated [to God]" or "accursed [devoted to destruction]". In the New Testament it signified destruction and moral unworthiness. At Rom. 9:3 Paul wishes to be "accursed" and cut off from Christ for the sake of fellow Jews, whereas at Gal. 1:8 he hurled this contemptuous ejaculation at those preaching a false gospel. The phrase "Jesus is cursed" 1 Cor. 12:3, is an intensive use of the term by Paul to show that nothing unworthy of Christ can ever originate in the Holy Spirit, even while speaking in tongues. At Acts 23:14 the term indicates the sanctions of an oath.
Anathema is also the curse that comes upon us if we have had any objects in our home that are accursed objects. You need to confess and repent of this sin and break the Curse of Anathema over you and your family.
Achan and his family were killed and their bodies burned because he took the things devoted which were accursed from Jericho. (Joshua 7:24, 25) They could not stand before their enemies. During Deliverance this could be a legal hold that the demons have to stay in us if we have not repented and broken the Curse of Anathema off of us.
Joshua 7:11-15 "Israel has sinned; they have transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. They have taken some of the things devoted [for destruction]; they have stolen, and lied, and put them among their own baggage. 12) That is why the Israelites could not stand before their enemies, but fled before them; they are accursed and have become devoted [for destruction]. I will cease to be with you unless you destroy the accursed [devoted] things from among you. 13) Up, sanctify (set apart for a holy purpose) the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow; for thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: There are accursed things in the midst of you, O Israel. You can not stand before your enemies until you take away from among you the things devoted [to destruction]. 14) In the morning therefore, you shall present your tribes. And the tribe which the Lord takes shall come by families; and the family which the Lord takes shall come by households; and the household which the Lord takes shall come by persons. 15) And he who is taken with the devoted things shall be [killed and his body] burned with fire, he and all he has, because he has transgressed the covenant of the Lord and because he has done a shameful and wicked thing in Israel."
Some accursed objects that we have learned about are as follows: Owls, frogs, unicorns, horseshoes; Items from other countries such as Oriental decorations, African and Indian carvings, Buddha statutes; The popular goose with the blue ribbon around its neck is an Egyptian god found on kitchen canisters, curtains, paper towels, plates, baskets; Dolls - origin is voodoo - stuffed dolls or animals; American Indian artifacts, blankets, etc.
These are by no means all of the accursed objects. The Lord will show you items in your home that are accursed objects. Be obedient and destroy them, by fire if possible, and confess, repent, ask forgiveness for having these accursed objects in your home and break the Curse of Anathema.
Write out or type out scriptures and put on your walls. If accursed objects allow demons to be in your home then the Word of God will allow the peace of the Lord to be in your home. We have scriptures at the head of our bed to help us have peaceful nights.
