What causes sexual immorality in Christian leadership? It is basically ignorance of The Holy Bible. Sexual sins and the resulting consequences are not taught in seminaries, Bible schools and churches. Even pastors do not know what sexual sin is and where it will lead. There are those who practice sexual sin and think that GOD will condone it without penalty; for example, pastors committing adultery.
I have a lesson, Are You On The Road To Hell? It lists the sins which will keep you out of Heaven. Sexual sins are included in that list. Deliverance should be taught and practiced in church for individuals and congregation.
Adultery, fornication (immorality), uncleanness (impurity), lasciviousness (indecency), whoremongering (lewd and adulterous), sodomy, homosexuality and lesbianism will keep you out of Heaven (Mal. 3:5, Gal. 5:19-21, Rev. 21:8 and Rev. 22:15).
Christians do not know the results of sexual sins. Results include sexually transmitted diseases which can lead to pain and physical death. They include curses, soul ties, demonization, demonic bondage and loss of salvation leading to spiritual death.
If Satan can seduce a leader into sexual sin, he can destroy the leader's marriage, family, church and ministry. A leader who has not had sexual deliverance is a walking time bomb of sexual demons waiting to explode in sexual sin. Satan will send a sexually loose person into their path. The demons within them will draw the two people together into sexual sin.
If sexual sin happens in leadership, the person needs to go through deliverance, be taught deliverance and be counseled for a period of time, say a year, by others familiar with deliverance for sexual sin. The person needs help to overcome the sin and lead a Christian life especially as a leader. His duties should not include those that could lead into sexual sin.
I believe that every person has probably committed some type of sexual sin and needs deliverance. Also consider the sins of the ancestors with the three, four or ten generation curses. Unless dealt with, every person probably has the ten-generation curse of the bastard or incest on that person. The familiar demons will try to get the descendent to commit the same sin and keep the curse active for another generation.
CONFRONTING IMMORALITY IN MINISTRY
What should the senior pastor do?
He should lead the group in the process of spiritually restoring John Doe back to full-time ministry and saving his marriage. Spiritual help should also be provided to John Doe's wife and the woman who committed adultery with him.
Many people in the ministry and congregation fall into sexual sin during their lifetime. It is one of Satan's main tactics in destroying the family and church. Everyone needs deliverance from sexual sin caused by themselves or others who have had spiritual authority over them.
The church should use deliverance as the main tool of restoration. The church needs to be taught about sexual sins and taken through mass deliverance. Individual deliverance should be provided for church members in a private setting.
The church should set rules for counseling, as to people and places, to prevent sexual sin and the appearance of evil.
How long before restoring John Doe back to ministry?
He should not be dismissed from the church. Probably a year should elapse before restoring him back to full-time ministry of what he was doing before he fell.
Where should John Doe be assigned?
He should be assigned to areas that do not involve counseling to women.
A mentor should be assigned to oversee his restoration from sexual sins. He should be delivered and trained in sexual sins.
Should associate pastors or senior pastors involved in adultery
restore themselves?
Probably not, because they need serious help in an area of strong weakness. For example, pornography is strongly addictive. As Win Worley would say, pastors with sexual demons are walking time bombs ready to explode when faced with a loose woman in the wrong setting.
Sexual sin is common among Christians. Most Christians need deliverance from sexual sins from ancestors, conception, molestation and individual.
